Head Coach: Dale Henderson

(6th season)

Dale Henderson, just completing his sixth season as Porterville College volleyball head coach, has proven to be one of the rising stars in the profession.

Since his first rebuilding year on the job, Henderson has compiled the second-best winning percentage in the Central Valley Conference (.728) - with a 51-19 mark.

Henderson has managed to notch 75 wins over the last five seasons against grueling non-conference schedules, where PC has faced numerous Top Ten programs in effort to build respect.

It's safe to say (by glancing at the season schedule), Henderson has accomplished that - and then some. The top programs in the state look to schedule Porterville College, as a quality opponent and a fixture in the state rankings.

Henderson recently guided PC to its best season in school history. The program enjoyed its first-ever 20-win season (20-7), and highest state rankings (No. 6 in the North, No. 14 in California).

As the No. 6 seed, the Pirates earned a home playoff match (3-2 victory) and advanced to the regional Elite Eight quarterfinals.

The team finished second in the CVC (12-2 for a second straight year), and placed five players on the All-CVC first and second teams.

In 2011, Henderson put Porterville on the volleyball map with an impressive run at the CVC championship. The team posted a 12-2 record in the CVC (runners-up) and an overall mark of 16-8.

PC ended the state rankings at No. 12 in Northern California. The Pirates made the playoffs for the second time in three years - with only two sophomores on the roster.

Henderson accepted PC's "Team of the Year" award at the college's 2012 athletic awards.

In 2010, PC overcame a tough preseason schedule, and finished 8-6 (fourth) in the Central Valley Conference.

In 2009, Henderson led the Pirates to one of the most successful campaigns in college history. His team went 17-6 overall, including an 11-3 second-place finish in the CVC.

The team set school records for best postseason seed (No. 10), highest final NorCal ranking (No. 10), and best overall state ranking (No. 21). The 2009 volleyball team was voted "Team of the Year" at the PC Awards.

Henderson was also runner-up as CVC Coach of the Year. Over the past five seasons, 21 of his players have been voted First or Second Team All-CVC as well.

In 2008, Henderson guided PC to a 13-9 mark – giving the Pirates the best turn-around record in the state (from 2 wins in 2007). For their achievements, Henderson and then-assistant coach Gracie Steidley were honored as the college "Coaching Staff of the Year."

Prior to joining the PC staff, Henderson coached girls varsity volleyball at Redwood High School in Visalia. He led the Rangers to their first-ever Valley championship title.

In five years at Redwood, he compiled an impressive record of 107-42.

Henderson also made a name for himself coaching the club circuit.

He coached the Sequoia Crush, and was the founder and coach for the V-Town Volleyball Club.
He played volleyball in the United State Army (1983-85) as an outside hitter.

His American Service team won a Post Championship title in 1984 – the same year the club won the European title. Henderson was named Most Valuable Player.
